Our Review
The Bodum Brazil French Press is proof that great coffee doesn't need electricity. The borosilicate glass beaker is heat-resistant, the 3-part stainless steel plunger filter extracts a full-bodied brew, and the 34-ounce capacity makes 8 cups.
Using a French press is simple: add coarse-ground coffee, pour hot water (200 deg F, not boiling), wait 4 minutes, press, pour. No paper filters mean more oils and flavor in your cup. Cleanup is slightly more involved than a drip machine, but the coffee quality is noticeably better.
At $25, the Brazil is the default recommendation for anyone curious about French press coffee. The glass beaker is replaceable (and you might need to - they can crack if dropped). If you prefer a more durable option, Bodum makes a stainless steel version for about $40 more.
