Our Review
The KitchenAid Artisan is the stand mixer you picture when someone says "stand mixer" - and that's because it's been the gold standard for decades. The 5-quart tilt-head design is iconic for good reason: it's easy to access the bowl, the 10 speeds cover every mixing need, and the 25+ hub attachments (pasta maker, meat grinder, ice cream maker) turn it into a full kitchen system.
The 325W motor handles cookie dough, cake batter, and bread dough up to about 4 cups of flour. Beyond that, the motor strains - for heavy bread baking, step up to the bowl-lift Professional 600. The tilt-head can be tight under low cabinets (about 14 inches clearance needed).
Available in 20+ colors, the Artisan is as much a countertop statement as a tool. At $450, it's an investment piece. But with proper care, it'll outlast your kitchen. The 1-year warranty is disappointing for this price point - Cuisinart and Breville offer longer coverage.
