The FlexiSpot EC1 is a frame-only option - you supply your own desktop. This is the DIY enthusiast's choice: buy the EC1 frame ($250-300), grab an IKEA Karlby or custom butcher block, and you have a premium-looking desk for under $500.
The single motor handles 154 lbs, which is fine for a standard monitor-laptop-keyboard setup but not for heavier loads. Height adjusts from 28" to 47.6", and the simple up/down keypad has no memory - you adjust manually each time. The 5-year warranty is adequate.
The EC1 makes sense if you're handy and want a specific desktop material or size that pre-built desks don't offer. If you'd rather not deal with drilling and finishing a desktop, pay the premium for a complete desk.
